From Demos to Square Balls: A Recap of GIMstmas 2025
At GIM Robotics, we don’t just build the future of autonomous mobile robotics; we also know how to throw a party that reflects exactly who we are. This year, we combined our annual GIMstmas—our tradition of inclusive, festive fun—with a full-throttle Innovation Camp Day. Below you can read more about what we did this time!
Deep Dives and System Mastery
We kicked off the afternoon with a company-wide Demo Session. In the world of complex outdoor robotics, it’s vital that everyone — regardless of their specific role — understands how our solutions actually move and think. We spent the afternoon getting briefed on the latest updates to our products and systems. Seeing the full ecosystem explained from start to finish reminded us all of the scale of the challenges we’re solving. It’s one thing to know your own stack; it’s another to see how every gear and line of code fits into the bigger picture.
Next up was the Innovation Camp. The atmosphere was exactly what makes being a GIMster special: open, honest, and high-energy. We challenged the team to brainstorm new services and products, and the results were impressively grounded. While some brainstorms drift into the maybe pile, the GIM teams produced a roadmap of some viable ideas that we could take to market. Let's see if any of them stick for the longhaul.
As the sun went down, our Sales Director Jussi Suomela stepped into his most important role of the year: serving the Annual GIMstmas Glögi. With the "official" work done aka the Innovation Camp and Demo, we refueled with a tasting menu spread from Fygë’s catering and geared up for the main event of the evening: The Atari Pong Tournament.
You know you’re at a robotics company when a game of Pong turns into a technical audit. As we crowded around the mechanical Atari Pong table, watching players trying to beat each other, the remaining engineers in the audience weren't just watching; they were reverse-engineering.
The square ball wasn't a mystery to this crowd—it was a conversation starter. Between matches, the talk quickly shifted to the table’s build quality, the mechanics of the square-ball movement, and the inevitable: "We could definitely build one of these ourselves." We spent as much time discussing the price point versus the hardware components as we did actually playing. In the end we had a winner, but the games continued long into the night. (P.S. no one won against the computer, that was the ultimate challenge!)
Beyond the tech and the tournaments, GIMstmas is about the people. We use the name "GIMstmas" because our company is a global community, and we want everyone to feel included in the celebration. It’s a day to celebrate our open, inclusive and honest culture, where the best idea wins—whether it’s a new service model or the optimal paddle-trajectory to win the Pong trophy.
Does this sound like the kind of team you’d like to join? We’re always looking for brilliant minds who take their work seriously, but can enjoy the fun banter around the house. Check out our open positions here.
